I just got back from an event in Malta where I saw a startup raise £300,000 in just two days by mastering Vomo. Every startup should know this trick. But first, a bit about the event. I was invited to speak at a conference tied to the end of Supercharger Ventures Accelerator program. All the startups in the program have committed to relocate to Malta to tap into the amazing local ecosystem, low taxes, grants, and strong support for startups. Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised by how much effort Malta is putting into attracting and keeping top business and talent. Fun fact, Malta is actually the fastest growing economy in Europe right now with 6% GDP growth. These startups went through an intense three-month program that wrapped up with a demo day, pitching to a room full of investors. There was also a pirate-themed boat trip. Founders had to pitch for one minute, standing on a plank, and if they went over time, they had to jump into the water. Given how hard it was, that was more of a reward rather than a punishment. And yep, that's me talking on the panel. And now back to the founder who raised £300,000 in just 48 hours. His name is Andy, founder of Everybody Counts, a math teaching tool for kids. What he did was genius, and every founder should steal his playbook. He invited some of his existing investors and advisors to that event. They networked with other investors, casually dropping that they have invested in Andy's company and explaining why. His startup's name kept coming up in conversations. At one point, it felt like Everybody Counts was the only company pitching there. Somehow, everyone seemed connected to Andy. Naturally, more investors got curious. Who the hell is this guy, and what's his company about? That's exactly what FOMO looks like. By the end of day two, Andy had £300,000 committed. Founders take notes. Oh, by the way, Andy still needs another £250,000 to close his £1.7 million round, so if you're an investor in my network, check him out before you miss out.
